NFL Fanduel Week 9 Players to Start

Each week we give you a stud and a bargain at each position to help you win your Fanduel match-ups. Lets take a look at some of the players you should be starting this week...

QB - Aaron Rodgers - GB vs. CHI -- $9,700
If you are looking for a big money stud this week Rodgers looks like the guy. It doesn't seem to matter who he has to throw the ball to, he just gets it done. Expect a fairly high scoring game here even with Cutler out for the Bears. If this one is going 30+ expect Rodgers to be somewhere around 300/3/1.
QB - Geno Smith - NYJ vs. NO -- $6,500
We're expecting the Saints to put up some early points here which will force Geno and the Jets to the air. New Orleans is improved on defense this season under new coordinator Rob Ryan, but brother Rex is likely to have a wrinkle or two up his sleeve for little bro. I'm guessing that means that will probably involve Geno and his legs. Projection 250/2/1 pass - 65/1 rush.
RB - Jamaal Charles - KC vs. BUF -- $9,200
Never mind the minor injury setback Charles suffered last week. Charles is good to go and has a great match-up against a shaky Buffalo defense. Charles is about as steady as they come. He has touchdowns in all but 1 game this season and has gone over 100+ total yards in each. Play with confidence! Projection - 125/1
RB - Eddy Lacy - GB vs. CHI -- $6,800
How is this guys still so cheap? Double digit fantasy points in each of the past 4 games including 19 in each of the last two. This guy has been one of the stronger picks the past few weeks and this should be no exception. Projection - 110/1
WR - Dez Bryant - DAL vs. MIN -- $9,100
The most expensive WR this week but with good reason. Dez and the Cowboys have a very favorable match-up against a Vikings defense that has given up some but plays through the air this season. Expect 120/1 at minimum.
WR - Brandon LaFell - CAR vs. ATL -- $4,500
Cam Newton is back folks and this week he leads his offense up against an Atlanta team that continues to be battling the injury bug plague. With that being the case and Steve Smith drawing most of the attention that should open the door for LaFell to have his 2nd big breakout game of the season. He went for 100+ and a TD against Minnesota a few weeks ago. No reason why he couldn't approach those numbers again this week.
TE - Dallas Clark - BAL vs. CLE -- $5,000
Wait, what year is this? Don't look now but Dallas Clark has found the end zone in consecutive weeks and appears to have become a strong red-zone favorite of Joe Flacco. Flacco has a long tradition of success with tight ends -- Heap, Pita, now Clark? Coming off the bye week I would expect the Ravens to come out strong. Projection - 60/1
K - Garrett Hartley - NO vs. NYJ -- $5,000
The best of the 5k kickers this week. New Orleans is going to score some points, but the Jets are no slouch defensively. Could open the door for bulk field goals in this one.
D - St. Louis Rams - STL vs.TEN -- $5,200
The Rams where everyone's preseason darlings to be a breakout team. It didn't start out quite as they had hoped but they have really opened some eyes as of late. They very nearly knocked off Seattle last week and held Marshawn Lynch to his worst game of the season. This week they go up against a Tennessee team that I'm just not sold on offensively. If Lynch couldn't get anything going, how do you expect Chris Johnson to do much?

NCAA Cash-In: Florida State vs. Miami Hurricanes

NCAA Cash-In
Florida State Seminoles vs. Miami Hurricanes
Line: Florida State -21, O/U: 63.5

Two traditional ACC power houses are back on top and enter the match-up undefeated for the first time in years in what is expected to be a battle for the ages.

Florida State enters the game just a week removed from the 51-14 thrashing they put on then #3 ranked Clemson. That game was a major eye opener nationally as the Seminoles are now many people's favorites to make a run at the National Championship game. FSU is averaging a gaudy 52.6 points per game while giving up just 13.

Miami enters the game after a bit of a scare last week against Wake Forest. It is quite possible that they were simply looking past the Demon Decons a bit with the big match-up with the Seminoles just around the corner. Nonetheless the closeness of their last two contest against inferior opponents should be noted. Perhaps they are simply a team that plays to their competition a bit.

Verdict: Two very good teams, one very large spread. I think just about everyone is picking FSU to win the game out right. Hard to argue there. But, a three touchdown spread is just a bit too big here.

PICK: MIAMI +21

NCAA Cash-In: Georgia Tech vs. Pittsburgh

NCAA Cash-In
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Pittsburgh Panthers
Line: Georgia Tech -11, O/U:54

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-3) will host the Pittsburgh Panthers (4-3) in their first ever ACC showdown.

The Panthers have been on a downhill slide since opening the season 3-1. That all can to a head last week when they were defeated 21-24 at Navy as a 4.5-point favorite. The only win over their last three games was a not so impressive 35-24 victory over Old Dominion.

Georgia Tech is coming off consecutive victories over Virginia Tech and Syracuse after a disappointing start to the season. The nations #4 ranked rushing offense will look to go crazy again this week. They are averaging 315.6 yards per game on the ground to this point.

Intriguing Trend:   Pitt is 1-17 ATS in their last 18 games when allowing 300+ rushing yards. -- That does not bode well going up against a triple option spread threat like Georgia Tech.

Verdict: The Tech offense is going to be just too much for the Pitt defense.

Pick: GEORGIA TECH -11

NCAA Cash-In: Arizona Wildcats vs. California Golden Bears

NCAA Cash-In
Arizona Wildcats vs. California Golden Bears
Line: Arizona -16, O/U 67.5

To say it has not been a good season for the Cal Golden Bears would be a bit of an understatement. They currently sit dead last in the PAC 12 at 1-7 overall, 0-5 inside the conference. That record is unlikely to improve much this week against one of the conference's strongest teams in Arizona.

Arizona comes into the game at 5-2 including two consecutive conference victories. Their high power offense seems to be clicking at full force heading into the game with QB B.J. Denker and RB Ka'Deem Carey both off to great seasons.

The Verdict:  Cal's defense ranks just 91st in the country against the run. That doesn't bode well when Arizona brings the nation's lading rusher to the contest (Ka'Deem Carey, 154 yards per game). To make matters worse, Widlcat's QB  B.J. Denker is a running threat himself, as we saw when he rattled off 192 yards on the ground. Doesn't look promising for the Golden Bears.

PICK: ARIZONA -16

NFL Week 9 Power Rankings

Not a whole not of movement this week within the top 10 as 9 out of 10 positions remain the same. The Kansas City Chiefs continue to find ways to wins, not always pretty at times but hey, they are still undefeated and very deserving of the top spot. While the top third is mostly unchanged, the shuffling is in full force in the mid-late sections of the Rankings. The honor of biggest riser this week is shared between the Arizona Cardinals (from 21 to 16) and Oakland Raiders (29 to 24), each taking a 5 spot leap. Going the other direction we have two teams who really need wins this week is they want to salvage their seasons (New York Jets - from 13 to 17, Pittsburgh Steelers - from 23 to 29). With a lot of fun match-ups this week there is bound to be some more movement going into week 10. For now, check out where your team stands.

NHL Power Rankings
October 31, 2013

Another week past , another week at the top for the San Jose Sharks. They became the first team to 10 wins over the week and sit as kings of the kill in the NHL with a league best 22 points. Nipping at their heals are the Colorado Avalanche. Also with 10 wins to date the Aves continue to impress. It will be interesting to see how they handle the distraction this week with the the arrest of goaltender Semyon Varlamov for alleged kidnapping and assault. Getting back to hockey, the Boston Bruins jump up three spots to the #3 hole, despite losing to Pittsburgh Wednesday night. The Blues and Ducks flip flop spots to round out the top five after a nice little three game winning streak in Anaheim.
