Franchise Tag Deadline Day

Monday at 4pm Eastern is the NFL deadline for teams to sign one of their potential free agents to the franchise tag. Five teams have already used their tags: Buffalo (S, Jairus Byrd), Chicago (DT, Henry Melton), Cincinnati (DE, Michael Johnson), Denver (T, Ryan Clady) and Indianapolis (P, Pat McAfee) -- yes you read that correct, Indy used it on a punter. Who will be next?

While some teams have made there decisions, there are some very tough ones looming for others. Some of the leading candidates to get handed the tag today are...

Baltimore: Ed Reed or Anquan Boldin
Kansas City: Dwayne Bowe
Miami: Jake Long or James Starks
New England: Wes Welker or Aqib Talib or Sebastian Vollmer
San Francisco: Dashon Goldson
St. Louis:  Danny Amendola
Tennessee: Jared Cook

While the tag all but assuredly secures the player for at least one more season, it comes at a very step price. The cost per player as estimated by position by NFL Network is as follows:
