Reed Suspension Reversed

24 hours after announcing a one game suspension for Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed for his hit to the head of Pittsburgh Steelers Emmanuel Sanders, the league rescinded the suspension on Tuesday. In its place the league announced a fine of $50,000 - no small sum by any means, but far less than the $423,000 game check he would have lost due to the suspension.

The suspension was a topic of discussion for media outlets across the country all day as players including those on the Steelers felt that Reed's intent was not to target the head or injury the Pittsburgh receiver.

The fine marks the third issued to Reed this season for hits to the head.

"None of those were with intent to injure or to harm in any way," said Ravens coach John Harbaugh on Monday. "When you look at the hits, that’s pretty obvious. We all know Ed. Ed respects the game. He respects his fellow players."

Reed will be in the line-up on Sunday when the team travels to San Diego to take on the Chargers.
